Thanks for any info!Įdited by hamluis, 10 March 2013 - 05:30 PM. A Google search revealed someone posted here previously and some of their (services) problem was related to removing a Win7 antispyware virus and they were also having firewall problems, and similar elsewhere, just without clear knowledge (here) of virus involvement or if one could still be lurking nothing showing up in scans (Avast pro, Microsoft Malicious Software, Malwarebytes). Occasionally, I seem to retain "control" and can turn the services back on and so on without further problems.Ĭoncerned as previously, my firewall services were turning off for no reason I know of, but haven't had that problem since going into the administrative firewall and resetting things. Oftentimes, when this occurs, I also get a lot of "access denied", the "service is not accepting control messages" or "invalid pipe state" messages when I try to start or stop services, processes or run commands. I'm confused and wondering if anyone can shed some light on why this is occurring. These are the services which "turn off" by themselves as a group:

I know that services, even those started and running "automatic" MAY shut down, if they are not being used. However, a large group of other services seems to shut down as a group and I can't figure it out. When I go into services and "refresh", IP Helper almost always appears to still be running. I keep getting a message every so often that "IP Helper" has shut down (stopped working). I am trying to figure out some things going on with my computer, which is on Vista 64 home premium SP/2.
